Sshh….Don’t tell the paparazzi we are in Panarea

So as the title might hint, a lot of celebrities, models and just generally outlandishly rich people come here in the peak season of summer. I can’t really blame them either, It is gorgeous! The waters are stunning; the little village is cute and small while bustling with people. The narrow streets, only navigated by golf-carts (no cars allowed on the island) have blossoms blooming everywhere, and don’t forget a surplus of cacti! You’d think with a lot of well known people from all across the world, more people would flock to the area and it would be crawling with paparazzi. This is, of course, not the case. This little Island paradise is so far removed from the main land and with an almost nonexistent harbour, the only way to the Island is from one of the surrounding islands public ferry. The numerous little hotels can afford to charge a mozza just because they are in a stunning area. On top of that, well some of the hotels are pretty much reserved for the elite of the elite and you have to be in the know to get a reservation. All this said, I had no idea about this island until we had set foot on it as one of our last day trips from Lipari. To be honest, no one would think this an elite rich area, as everyone blends in. No flamboyancy, no big named brands just the locals that have been here forever, enjoying everyday life and I believe that’s what the rich come for.

Jacob and I may have chosen one of the hottest days we have experienced while on this holiday to visit Panarea, but this did not get us down. We chose not to get a taxi golf-cart to the little slice of secluded sand beach we had heard of, no no, instead we walked our way there. Granted, what was meant to be a 15 minute walk turned into a 25 minute walk due to my stopping and taking pictures of the beautiful sights. Panarea is by far my favourite Island we visited….If I have said this about another island in any of my previous posts….well they were previous and this is my new favourite.haha.

After a stop to eat some peach and strawberry granita to cool us down, and a few thousand picture pit stops, we made it to the Spiaggetta Zimmari. Lipari Island has beautiful beaches but this beach was stunning. Though there is only a small slice of sand (I wouldn’t like to come in peak summer-time) we found a little patch off to the side for ourselves and dove straight into the water. You can practically stand up about 35 meters out from the beach. Goggles on, you can watch the cute little fish nibble around through the sand. We spent a good amount of time in the water. finally drying off and heading back into town to catch our ferry, we stopped by a little confectionary pop up stand to buy Jacob some candy. haha.

The high temperatures, so much walking and hours of swimming, we just managed to get home and shower before we flopped onto the bed to veg-out before I made us a carbonara for dinner.
